Women and girls have the right to education, economic opportunity, healthcare, political participation, and protection against discrimination, yet globally over 2.7 billion women are legally restricted from having the same opportunities as men.
830 women die daily - 302,000 each year — from complications in pregnancy and childbirth. 5 million babies born this year won’t reach their first birthday. That's the equivalent of Melbourne’s entire current population (2021).
The numbers tell an unspeakable story. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Almost two-thirds of newborn deaths could be prevented by providing mothers with critical support during pregnancy, including nutritious meals, medical care and skilled birth attendants.
That’s why I am taking the 1 Million Pledge.
The 1 Million pledge is a once-in-a-lifetime fundraising movement for international aid, teaming up with some of the world's biggest international aid organisations to make the greatest possible difference.
The goal is to bring 1 million people together, in our lifetime, to raise funds for the world’s most disadvantaged.
It's a fundraising movement that's never been done, and may never be repeated. I’m taking the pledge to become one in a million.
At some point in our lives, we have all thought how can we help to make the world a better place.
This is why I am taking part in the 1 Million Pledge, raising funds for disadvantaged women.
Every person who fundraises will receive their own unique number in the race to a million.
Please consider making a donation to support my fundraiser to help raise funds for international aid.
